We are starting a new Association for Women In Science (AWIS) chapter for everyone in Spokane who supports women and girls in science.

AWIS is a national organization dedicated to advancing opportunities for women in science by promoting career growth, raising awareness of girls and women in science, and connecting supportive communities. Membership is open to everyone who supports women in science. It is not an organization exclusively for women, but for all advocates and champions of equity in science.

Until now, the Seattle AWIS Chapter has been the only chapter representing all of Washington State. This year, Seattle AWIS presented Spokane's Dr. Joanna Ellington with their Award for Science Advancement and Leadership, an honor that motivated her to establish a chapter here. Spokane has a vibrant and growing science community that deserves its own local voice, network, and resources.

To officially charter AWIS Spokane, we need at least 20 founding members to join the new chapter. Whether you are a researcher, educator, student, industry professional, or simply someone who believes in advancing women in science, we want you with us!
